Puma, together with the Rhude brand introduced the second collection of clothing and footwear. How the Puma x Rhude collaboration was born and what stories tells for us?

Founded in 2015, the Rhude brand has become one of the most important players in today’s street style category. The Rhude team is led by Philippine-born fashion designer Rhuigi Villaseñor, who moved to sunny Los Angeles at the age of nine. In this vibrant city Rhuigi discovered his passion - fashion design.

From a young age Rhuigi’s worldview was shaped and inspired by music, different cultures, basketball and both parents - Rhuigi's mother was a seamstress and the father was an architect. The family was not very wealthy, could not afford luxury shopping, so this restriction became an inspiration to the young man who dreamed of creating his own world – this scarcity inspired Rhuigi to create Rhude brand which very quickly became a symbol of youthful sophistication and freedom. The simple but at the same time provocative designs for men by Rhuigi Villaseñor have become extremely desirable. LeBron James, Justin Bieber, Odell Beckham Jr., Dwyane Wade, Kevin Durant, Kelly Oubre Jr., Lewis Hamilton, Tristan Thompson, Lenny Kravitz, Ben Simmons, Michael B. Jordan, Kendrick Lamar, Meek Mill, Nick Jonas goes crazy about the Rhude.

Puma and Rhude joined forces for the first time in 2019 - both sides were extremely pleased with the result and there was no doubt that the series would tell more than one story. “We live in a time when we can create a stories by ourselves and turn it in the direction that seems right to us. Our first collection was like an introduction, which we are continuing now, and there will be more in the future,” said Rhuigi Villaseñor. "Rhuigi is the most exciting designer right now, setting a new narrative in the fashion and street space," added PUMA Global Senior Head of Partnerships, Yassine Saidi.

The second Puma x Rhude collection was inspired by motorsport, which has a special significance in the history of Puma. Rhuigi Villaseñor, who loves minimalist aesthetics of style, has transformed Puma’s iconic Puma leisure sneakers. The Puma x Rhude style capsule combines European Puma culture with the California’s summer vibe. “I’ve always thought about creating a sporty style category. I am glad that it was possible to implement this and at the same time honor the racing culture together with Puma. I think there is a small child in each of us who is fascinated by graceful cars and the spirit of racing, so I wanted to make sense of it with my designs. Motorsport is an art, and the same goes for their design,” said Rhuigi Villaseñor.

The most important part of the modern interpretation of motorsport has become Puma casual shoes. Along with Rhude, Puma Performer, Puma Alteration and Ralph Sampson sneakers have taken on new roles.
